Accomplishments

During his first term on Irving City Council, John went to bat for the residents of Irving:

  • Stopping attempts to eliminate term limits for elected City officials and closing loopholes in the term limits we have
  • Rebuilding Lee Park pool, scheduled to open summer 2025
  • Advancing parents’ rights, working with library staff to craft common sense policies regarding mature content in minors’ sections
  • Restoring the twice-a-week bag collection service the residents of Irving vocally supported
  • Directing federal funding towards re-establishing Irving’s domestic violence shelter
  • Supporting thoughtful placement of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) to combat concentration of LIHTC projects and encourage redevelopment of aging housing
  • Pursuing ordinance updates to enhance pedestrian safety at busy roadways where panhandlers and other loiterers caused traffic safety issues
  • Holding developers accountable to Irving’s established hotel and multifamily standards
